About Us
Designing Your Life Global (DYL Global) is a platform and movement dedicated to helping people and organisations design meaningful lives in a time of profound change.
Rooted in the life design methodology developed at Stanford University, DYL Global applies human-centered design to life, work, leadership, and education. Rather than offering fixed answers, we equip people with the mindsets, tools, and confidence to navigate uncertainty, make intentional choices, and continuously redesign their lives as contexts evolve.
DYL Global exists to scale this work beyond individual workshops. Through partnerships with governments, institutions, and organisations — and through a growing network of facilitators and coaches — we build life design capability across societies, not just individuals.
Origin Story
Designing Your Life began at Stanford University, where a course created by Bill Burnett and Dave Evans helped students apply design thinking to life and career decisions. What started as a classroom experiment grew into a global movement, now adopted by hundreds of universities and organisations worldwide.
In Singapore, the methodology found particular resonance. As a small, diverse, and rapidly changing society, Singapore became a natural testbed for life design at scale — across education, mid-career transitions, leadership development, and national workforce initiatives.
The Designing Your Life Institute (DYLi) was established to pilot and localise life design within this national context. As adoption grew and impact deepened, DYL Global was formed to take these learnings beyond Singapore — supporting partners across Asia-Pacific and beyond who are seeking not just future skills, but deeper clarity about identity, purpose, and direction in an uncertain world.
